Tim Johnson, an administrator and member of the Upper School faculty at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tenn., has been named head of Pulaski Academy’s Upper School, effective July 1, 2010.
In addition, Alecia Castleberry, a member of the school’s Science Department who had been serving as interim dean of students, was chosen to fill the dean’s role permanently. Castleberry will report to Johnson.
William Mott, president of Pulaski Academy, made the announcements on Monday.
“Tim Johnson is an excellent choice to lead PA’s Upper School and I want to thank Dr. Leesa Renshaw and the search committee for the thorough job they did in the search process,” Mott said in a press release.
“I was involved in hiring Tim at BGA several years ago and can attest that he is a person who models our mission and core values as well as anyone I know,” Mott said. Johnson, who has a bachelor of science degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and a master of science in educational leadership from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., has worked at BGA since 2005.
Mott noted that Johnson would be assuming the role that had been filled by Cheryl Watts, interim dean of the faculty, and Castleberry, interim dean of students.
“After examining the roles and responsibilities of the Upper School Head during the search process, it was decided in part from feedback from the search committee, that PA would be well served to continue the role of Upper School Dean of Students,” Mott said in announcing that Alecia Castleberry would continue to serve as Upper School dean of students. She also will remain a member of the private school’s Science Department.
